40 Days to Awaken Your Sober MindSample

Sister, I get it, the wine might feel like freedom. It might feel like liberation or independence. Even a bit rebellious if you grew up with the weight of legalism. But if you feel the mental/emotional “need” for alcohol in order to relax, socialize, cope, or sleep, that's not freedom. It’s a form of dependency wrapped in a pretty package.
You were made for so much more than survival. Galatians 5 reminds us: freedom is your birthright in Christ. This verse calls us to recognize the true purpose of our freedom. Jesus didn’t die to give us “barely getting by”. He set us free so we could walk in joy and be set apart. Any habit that enslaves us, even subtly, is not His best for us. Boundaries aren’t burdens. They’re blessings that help us stay free. The yoke of slavery is a heaviness, but we have the choice, through the Holy Spirit, to remove it. On this sober-minded journey of freedom, it's actually about learning how to “take off” the limiting beliefs and lies from the enemy and “put on” the truth. This allows us to stand firm on God's truth and power.
John 8 declares that His freedom is the real kind. The lasting kind.
Freedom may feel awkward at first. Quiet. Even uncomfortable. But give it time. Soon, you’ll taste joy that isn’t borrowed. Energy that isn’t spiked. Peace that isn’t numbed.
You know, for years I said, “I want to not want it.” Freedom feels like no longer wanting something you can have, versus always “wanting” something you can’t have. This is huge because our internal desires change when we become aligned with God’s best for us.
Sis, you’re not missing out. You’re waking up.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for setting me free. Help me walk in that freedom and not fear it. I don’t want to be bound to anything but Your love.
Journal Prompt:
Where are you still settling for a version of freedom that leaves you empty? What does real freedom look like to you today?

We’ll explore what it means to pause, connect, and live in alignment. We’re going to look at what God’s Word says about freedom, peace, and wholeness. Each day, I encourage you to slow down and really reflect. Let this be more than just a reading. Let it be a rewiring. You are not broken. You’re being rebuilt.
