Weary of Waiting: Finding Peace in God's PlanSample

There’s a moment in Sarah’s story that still makes me smile. After all the waiting, the wondering, the doubting, and striving… Isaac is finally born. The long-promised child. A name called out by angels. A life cradled in aged arms.
And what does Sarah do? She laughs.
This time, not the cynical kind. Not the weary, self-protective laugh of someone trying not to hope too much. But real laughter, rich, full-bodied, from-the-depths-of-your-soul joy.
Joy that had been ripening quietly through years of delay. Joy that didn’t erase the ache but somehow gave it meaning. Joy that whispered, God never forgot me, not for a moment.
Sarah’s laughter reminds us that God’s timing may not always make sense to us… but it is never off. Never careless. Never late.
Today, we arrive at the final step in our five-part rhythm for peace: Rest.
But rest in the life of faith isn’t about passivity or giving up. It’s not about quitting or slumping into resignation. True rest is an active, steady trust. It’s the calm that comes when we settle into the truth that we’re being held by the One who knows the end from the beginning.
It’s a way of walking through the world, no longer rushed by comparison or driven by fear. No longer proving. No longer performing. Just living from a place of anchored grace.
Rest happens when we stop measuring our progress against someone else’s. When we stop frantically trying to catch up to a pace God never asked us to keep. When we believe, deep down, that God’s “not yet” is not a rejection but a rhythm.
Even so, the ache may still rise. We’ll glance sideways again. We’ll notice someone else moving faster, farther, freer. And we’ll feel tempted to pick up the pressure we’ve already laid down.
That’s okay.
Because this rhythm we’ve walked together isn’t linear. It’s not something we master once and move on. It’s a sacred spiral, a holy returning.
We Recognize the ache. We Release the need to control. We Receive the grace God offers today. We Risk believing again. And we Rest, not because everything is resolved, but because He is trustworthy.
This is the rhythm of grace. Not just for five days, but for a lifetime.
Spiritual maturity isn’t about arriving at a place where we no longer struggle. It’s learning to come back. Again and again. Returning to grace, realigning with truth, and walking once more, slowly, deeply, freely, with the God who never hurries and never forgets.
Isaiah 46:10 reminds us, “Everything I plan will come to pass.” (NLT) Not just some things. Not only the easy things. Everything.
Even the hidden things. Even the long-delayed things. Even the parts of your story that feel like they’ve stalled out or missed their moment.
So if you’ve felt behind, whether in your calling, your growth, your dreams, or your hope, may this final word settle gently on your soul: You are not behind. You are held. You are known. And you are right on time for the beautiful, unfolding work God is doing in and through you.
So take a deep breath. Let go of the timelines that tire you out. And let your soul lean into the steady, grace-filled rhythm of God’s pace.
You are free to rest… even while you wait!
Prayer: God, thank you that I am not behind; I am held. Help me live at the pace of your peace, not my pressure.
Life is full of waiting. And even though we grow weary, each moment is pregnant with possibility—an invitation to experience more of God, right here, right now.
