Seasons of Hardship: Live the Jesus Way

DAY 3 OF 3

Know that You Can Trust God’s Promises

Ever asked the questions . . . Where is God right now? How could this ever be good? Why me, God?

The truth is, God never promised to shield us from hard times. Instead, He promised something better: His presence and His purpose in the middle of them.

James 1 tells us that if we ask God, He will give generously. Jeremiah 29 reminds us that His plans are not about handing us the full map of the future; they are an invitation to call on Him, to seek Him with all our hearts, and to find Him. And Romans 8:28 makes this promise clear: in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.

But here’s the challenge: our definition of “good” often means comfort, ease, or success. God’s definition of good is far deeper: being conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus. That means even in our hardest moments, God is at work in you and He is shaping us to look more like Christ.

Think about your hardship right now. The pain and confusion you’re carrying, the questions that keep you up at night, the weight that feels too heavy. God hasn’t abandoned you. He’s weaving purpose into your story, even through the pieces that feel broken. You can trust His promises because He always keeps His word.

Let’s Get Practical

Sometimes the greatest act of faith is not demanding answers, but trusting His character, believing that His promise still holds in your story.

Questions for Reflection

  • What “all thing” are you carrying right now?
  • How could God use this situation or hardship to form you more into the image of Jesus?
  • Where do you struggle with trusting His definition of “good” over your own?

Takeaway for Today

God’s promises are not fragile or dependent on circumstances. They are steady, trustworthy, and unshakable. Whatever “thing” you’re facing today, you can know this: He will use it for good, and that good is to draw you closer to Jesus.

Bible Reading

  • James 1:5
  • Jeremiah 29:11–14
  • Romans 8:28–29

Action Step

Take five minutes today to name your “all thing” out loud or write it down. Then surrender it to God in prayer. Ask Him to show you how He might be using it to make you more like Jesus—and to give you faith to trust His promises.
