Day 19: The Fruits of Heavenly Wisdom

James paints a beautiful picture of what heavenly wisdom looks like. It’s not harsh, manipulative, or self-serving—those are markers of earthly wisdom, rooted in pride and selfish ambition. Instead, wisdom from above reflects God’s very character: pure, peace-loving, considerate, full of mercy, and sincere. In Galatians, Paul reminds us that the Spirit produces fruit in us that looks remarkably similar—love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, and more.

We don’t have to guess whether we are walking in God’s wisdom. Just as a tree is recognized by the fruit it produces, our lives bear evidence of the wisdom we live by. If our choices bring peace, mercy, and goodness, that’s heavenly wisdom at work. But if our decisions stir strife, division, or pride, it’s time to pause and ask God for wisdom from above.

The good news is that we don’t grow these fruits on our own. The Holy Spirit cultivates them in us as we stay connected to Christ, like branches abiding in the vine. Our role is to remain surrendered and willing, allowing God to prune away earthly wisdom so that His fruit may flourish in our lives.

Application: Choose one characteristic of heavenly wisdom (e.g., gentleness, peace-loving, or mercy) and intentionally practice it today. Look for opportunities to demonstrate this fruit in your interactions, words, or decisions.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, cultivate in me the fruits of Your wisdom. Uproot any earthly thinking that keeps me from reflecting You. May my life bear good fruit that testifies to Your truth, and may I sow peace that reaps a harvest of righteousness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
