Preparing Your Daughter for Adulthood: A 5-Day Reading Plan for Parents

DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: Plant Seeds of Truth

Real truth is timeless, eternal, and unchanging. It’s found solely in God because God is truth, the Creator of heaven and earth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

As parents, we’re called to plant seeds of truth. We’re called to surround our children with godly influences who water the seeds we’ve planted. God will make sure these seeds take root at a time most opportune to our child’s salvation. That timing could be tomorrow—or twenty years from now. We can’t predict or control that part, but we can find peace in knowing the foundation is laid. Our girls have a lifeline of truth inside them that God can call to mind anytime.

When life feels scary, chaotic, or uncertain, God’s truth is a game-changer. It can bring supernatural peace as you wait for answers. Here are some truths for you to share with your daughter:

  • Some people won’t see you clearly. They may overlook you, mock you, or undervalue you. But remember: People don’t determine your worth—God does. He made you in His image and knew you before you were born (Genesis 1:26; Jeremiah 1:5).
  • What people say about you is their opinion. What the Lord says about you is a fact. The way to know your worth is to focus on the facts.
  • Jesus died for you. Now you get to decide how you’ll live for Him. How will you pass on the love and grace you’ve been given?
  • Your emotions are important, but emotions can mislead you. Just because you feel insignificant doesn’t mean you are insignificant. God made you with great intention, and nothing about you is a mistake. Every detail plays into His plan for you.

Reflect: Which of the truths listed above does your daughter most need to hear right now? Why?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the unchanging truth found in You. Help me faithfully plant seeds of truth in my daughter’s life, trusting that You will nurture them at the right time. Equip me to teach her about her worth in Your eyes and to steer her toward the firm foundation of Your Word. May You use every planted seed to grow her into the woman You’ve created her to be. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for letting me be a part of her faith story. Amen.

About this Plan

Preparing Your Daughter for Adulthood: A 5-Day Reading Plan for Parents

Parenting is tough. As a mom of four girls, I’m in the trenches with you. Our daughters are being shaped by a culture that is darker than the culture that shaped you and me. So, how do we prepare our daughters now so that they are ready for adulthood? We parent them with love, plant seeds of truth, celebrate gratitude, encourage a mission mindset, and trust God.
