My ultimate role model when it comes to manhood is Jesus. During one of the conversations he had with Peter, Jesus showed us what real manhood was. He started telling Peter about the risk He is going to take and that playing it safe won't get Him anywhere. Peter was telling Jesus that He deserves pleasure, power and protection not death. Jesus looked Peter in the eye and said, Get behind me Satan. Strong words. Jesus was telling Peter - the risk I am about to take requires me to die. You speak of comfort and pleasure but to accomplish the will of the Father I can't play safe. I have to give up my life. Parang kwento lang yan ng isang manok at ng baboy. Nalaman nila na may party ang amo nila. Nagusap sila na mag contribute para sa party. Ang suggestion ng manok magbigay sila ng EGGS and HAM. Sabi ng baboy sa manok, Sa iyo kailangan ng commitment ngunit sa akin kailangan ng sacrifice. I think men, we can learn something crucial here that would define our manhood. God did not create us to be consumers, He created men to be producers and sometimes or may I say most of the time - it is not pleasurable. It is sacrificial. It requires giving up your life.
