Quench the Thirst

Tagaram Shyambabu (50), was a church pastor in Vinchipet, Vijayawada. Due to the flood, he was trapped along with his family members in the apartment on the 6th floor. Since Sunday (1 September 2024), they have been suffering due to a lack of drinking water. The father's heart was moved because his 15-year-old son was thirsty. On Monday, he came searching to get some drinking water. In the process, he drowned.

Sacrifice: Any sacrifice for the sake of other humans is considered a sacred value in humanity. Parents for children, the vice versa, friends, relatives, community, or nation. In some religious practices, humans were sacrificed including infants.

David as Father: Absalom, son of David rebelled against him. King David, Commander Joab, and many others had to flee away from Jerusalem to save their lives. David instructed the commanders not to harm Absalom in the civil war. Yet, Joab, disregarding David’s command and considering the Nation’s security, killed him. When David heard the news, he wept stating: “O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I have died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!” (II Samuel 18:33)

Holy God: The punishment and judgment for sin is second death or eternal separation from God. Holy God cannot compromise, make exceptions, or bend rules to forgive sinners.

Supreme Sacrifice: Hence God the Father sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to die on the cross of Calvary, buried, resurrected, ascended, and sits on the right hand of God. So that sinners who seek forgiveness could receive in faith, by the virtue of His Sacrifice.

Thirst: The physical thirst of the son, made the father go out to seek the same. There is an eternal spiritual quest for all humans. God has placed this quest that can only be satisfied by God in the hearts of men and women. (Ecclesiastics 3:11) The Samaritan Woman who was pursuing the quench of her thirst found the eternal springs of water in the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 4:14)
