40 Days of Christ’s Sacrifice a Lent DevotionSample

Know Him and Make Him Known!
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) has the motto i.e. to Know Lord Jesus Christ and make Him known or proclaim Him. The word ‘know’ is used 950 times in the Hebrew Old Testament. ‘Knowing’ means an intimate relationship. “Wise should not boast of his wisdom, mighty of his strength and rich of his riches; instead knowing Him.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24) Paul writes that he will only boast of the cross. (Galatians 6:14) It is impossible to know God without knowing the crucified and risen Savior.
1) Knowing Him: Lord spoke through Prophet Jeremiah that God will give them a heart to know him. (Jeremiah 24:7) Human heart should become like fertile ground so that the seed – the Word of God takes root. (Matthew 13: 23) Lord Jesus Christ taught that knowing Father is the Eternal Life. (John 17:3) Paul was willing to lose everything for: The surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. (Philippians 3:8)
2) Knowing His Word: Life-long learning is a buzzword today. Learning Scripture is a life-long process. Paul reminds Timothy to pursue Knowing the Scripture, which is inspired, infallible and speaks to us. (II Timothy 3:14-16) Everyday, it is essential to grow in His knowledge by meditating the Word of God. (II Peter 3:18) Chosen people of God are destroyed because of not knowing the Word of God. (Hosea 4:6)
3) Knowing His love: God first loved us. It is beyond our understanding to really know the Love of the Son of God exhibited on the Cross of Calvary. Paul desires to comprehend orknow the depth and length. and breadth of His love (Ephesians 3:18-19)
4) Knowing the Power of resurrection: Paul also had a desire to know the power of resurrection. (Philippians 3:10) Christians are called to live with the power of resurrection. God can use mortal beings, to accomplish unimaginable, unattainable, and unreachable things for His glory. Amy Carmichael bedridden for twenty years due to an accident, could become a mighty instrument used by God globally with her writings.
