21 Days to Overcome StressSample

FEAR NOT!
Satan wants you to get your information from him and not from the Word of God. If you aren’t careful, worry and fear will rip your abundant life right out of your sweaty, little hands.
The Greek word for “fear” in both the Ancient Hebrew and the Greek, implies a fleeing or a running away from something or someone. So, when the Bible instructs us to “fear not,” it is in essence saying, “Don’t run away!”
Very few of us actually run away physically from a situation that frightens us, but where we run away is in our minds. We allow our minds to run like that infamous chicken with its head cut off, and we envision all sorts of distressing scenarios.
Here are just a few examples:
- Someone is a few minutes late arriving, and we begin to imagine a number of possibilities, none of which are positive. Fear not!
- You wake up two mornings in a row with a headache, so you wonder if it could be a brain tumor. Fear not!
- You’ve gained a little weight, and your husband forgot your anniversary, so you wonder if there could be another woman. Fear not!
The words “fear not” appear in tandem at least 144 times in the Bible. And when the Bible says “fear not,” it means do not run away. When you are full of fearful thoughts or worries, rather than running away, you need to run forward into all that God has for you.
The reason that Satan tries to give you a spirit of fear is so you will run away from the blessings and power of God. If you are running scared, you are running backward into your past and away from the arms of God.
If you are pressing ahead, you are moving toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus! You will only find the presence and power of God as you press ahead!
DAILY DEPOSIT:
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. – 2 Timothy 1:7 AMP
