When Mountains Don't MoveSample

When Mountains Don't Move

DAY 3 OF 3

Our final mountain reveals perhaps the most breathtaking aspect of God's nature—His supernatural glory. On Mount Tabor, Jesus took Peter, James, and John to witness His transfiguration. Mark 9:2-3 describes the moment: "He was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them" (ESV).

The guest list for this mountain experience is fascinating: Moses and Elijah appeared, conversing with Jesus. These weren't random appearances; both men had encountered God supernaturally on their own mountains. Mount Tabor represents seasons when God surrounds us with both newer and seasoned believers as He unveils supernatural dimensions of His nature.

Notice the progression through our three mountains: Moses went up alone to receive covenant promises. Unbelievers and rebels surrounded Elijah to demonstrate God's power. Now the disciples are accompanied by both Jesus and these legendary saints for a supernatural encounter. Each mountain serves a different purpose in revealing God's character.

Peter later reflected on this experience in 2 Peter 1:16-18, declaring they were "eyewitnesses of his majesty" (ESV). He understood that personal encounters with God's supernatural nature create the most powerful testimonies. God knew Peter would lead the early church, so He couldn't let Peter know Jesus only through miracles and teachings. Peter needed a transformative encounter with divine glory.

The same principle applies today. There are seasons when God desires to reveal His supernatural nature to you, taking you beyond ordinary faith into extraordinary encounters with His glory. Mount Tabor experiences teach us that some encounters with Jesus can only happen at elevated places, both literally and spiritually. When you sense God calling you higher, beyond the familiar into the mysterious, He may be preparing you for a transformative mountain experience. These sacred elevations become launching points for ministry that will impact others. The mountain doesn't just change you, it equips you to testify of God's majesty with the authority that comes only from personal encounter.

Prayer: Father, help me understand that not every mountain in my life is meant to be moved, but some are meant to reveal who You are. Give me eyes to see what You're doing in my current season and the courage to embrace whatever mountain experience You have for me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Reflection: What season are you experiencing: Sinai's covenant establishment, Carmel's power demonstration, or Tabor's supernatural encounter? How is God revealing His nature to you?
