The Waiting Room

DAY 3 OF 3

Day #3: You Are Not Waiting Alone

Sometimes the most painful part of waiting is feeling like you’ve been forgotten by people, by opportunities, and even by God.

Joseph knew what that felt like.

At just 17 years old, Joseph received dreams, a promise from God on his calling and plan for his life. But what happened next?

Not a promotion.
Not an open door.
Not applause or recognition.

He was:

· Betrayed by his own brothers

· Sold into slavery in Egypt

· Falsely accused of assault by Potiphar’s wife

· Thrown into prison though he did nothing wrong

· Forgotten by the cupbearer after interpreting his dream

And still… the promise held.

Joseph waited 13 years from the moment he received the dreams to the day he stood before Pharaoh. But even in that long, dark stretch of waiting, something profound was happening...

“The Lord was with Joseph.”

God didn’t remove the process, but He never removed His presence either.

I want to recognize something that we don’t necessarily see in the scripture but must have been present. The Bible doesn’t give us a details on Joseph’s emotions while he was in prison. But I think it’s safe to say that he was hurt, felt betrayed, maybe even a little depressed sitting in jail for something he didn’t do.

And while Joseph waited, he didn’t shut down. He kept walking in purpose. He interpreted dreams. This was a gift God gave him. He served others. He stewarded what was in front of him. He trusted, even when it seemed like the dream had died.

This is what God wants for us.

The wait may feel long. You might be misunderstood, overlooked, even lied on. But if God is with you, your wait is not wasted.

God didn’t forget Joseph and He hasn’t forgotten you.
The promise is still happening.
And when the moment comes, it will be clear that God has been with you the entire time.

Work in Your Purpose Even in the Pit

What gifts has God given me that I can still use in this season? In my waiting seasons, I still serve with the youth at my church, I still create Christian content and bible studies, I still read my word so that I can grow in Christ.

PRAYER:

Faithful God,

You are with us in the silence, in the slow days or months or years, in the seasons where nothing makes sense.

Like Joseph, we’ve been hurt.
mistreated.
There are moments when we may question everything You’ve said.
But today, we choose to believe again.

Help us to be faithful in the waiting.
Help us to keep using my gifts, even in hard places.
Help us to notice Your presence when your promise feels far away.

We know that You are not finished.
What You spoke, You will bring to pass.

Amen.
