The Bible in a MonthSample

Day 29: A Love That Won’t Quit
Reading: 1, 2, & 3 John, Jude, Revelation 1–5
We’re almost at the end of the Bible, and the message now turns deeply personal and deeply eternal. These final letters remind us what this whole story has always been about: love, truth, and the Lamb at the center of it all.
1, 2, & 3 John: Stay Anchored in Love and Truth
John, now much older, writes like a father speaking to his children. His letters are less about new information and more about making sure you don’t forget what matters most.
He says:
“God is love.” “We love because He first loved us.” “If you say you love God but hate your brother, you’re lying.”
But love, for John, is never soft. It’s not sentimental. It’s strong enough to call out false teaching and to challenge hypocrisy. He says to walk in the light, stay away from idols, and hold tight to the truth.
2 John warns not to entertain destructive doctrines. 3 John praises believers who support the mission.
John’s message is clear: You don’t grow beyond love, you grow deeper into it.
Jude: Contend for the Faith
Jude wanted to write a happy letter about salvation. But false teachers were distorting grace into a license to sin, so he switches gears and urges believers to “contend for the faith.”
He reminds them: God has judged before, angels, Egypt, Sodom, and He’ll judge again. But also, God can keep you from falling.
“To Him who is able to keep you… to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy…”
Jude is short, sharp, and powerful. It’s a letter for a Church that needs to stand tall in truth without losing sight of mercy.
Revelation 1–5: Jesus, Glorified and Unstoppable
John, now in exile on the island of Patmos, receives a vision, and it’s not like anything we’ve seen yet. This isn’t the Jesus from Galilee. This is the risen, reigning Jesus—eyes like fire, voice like rushing waters, face shining like the sun.
He tells John to write letters to seven churches. Some are faithful. Some are struggling. Some are faking it. But to each one, Jesus says:
“I see you. I know. And I want you to overcome.”
Then John is pulled into heaven and sees the throne room. Lightning, thunder, emerald rainbow, elders, living creatures. And at the center?
A Lamb, looking as if He had been slain.
No one is worthy to open the scroll, until Jesus steps forward. Heaven erupts:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!”
This is the cosmic moment where everything aligns. The story isn’t random. The pain wasn’t pointless. Jesus is at the center of it all.
What does this part of the story say about God?
That His love is unchanging, His truth is unshakable, and His Son, the Lamb who was slain, is worthy of it all. God isn’t just trying to get you to believe the right stuff. He wants you to become someone rooted in love, walking in truth, and living for eternity.
Takeaway: Don’t let distractions, deception, or discouragement pull you off course. Stay anchored in the truth. Stay filled with love. And keep your eyes on Jesus, the Lamb, the Lion, and the center of the story. Because this isn’t over yet. Tomorrow, we read how it all ends.
About this Plan

Reading the whole Bible in 30 days is bold and yes, it’s a challenge. It will take time, focus, and probably doing less of something else to make more room for God's Word. But this plan is not about checking a box. It is about renewing your mind, seeing the big picture of Scripture, and letting God's story shape yours. Each day includes a reading assignment, a short devotional, and a practical takeaway. You do not need perfection, just commitment. If you are ready to dive in and let God speak in a fresh way, this journey is for you.
