Wherever people believe, live, and work together, there will also be conflict. This was true even in the early church.
We don't know exactly what happened between Euodia and Syntyche. But Paul assumes that reconciliation is possible—with the help of a "loyal companion" (who exactly is meant remains unclear, but it would have been clear to the Philippians). He reminds them both: You belong to Jesus—and that unites you more deeply than anything that divides you. He places this common ground at the center of his appeal.

Are you currently in conflict with someone in your church? If so, focus on what unites you: Jesus and your shared service for Him. Jesus is honored when we love one another.
