Growing Multigenerational Faith

DAY 3 OF 31

Generation to generation has always been a very large part of my story. From my earliest memories, I have had people of all generations and ages pouring into me and my eight other siblings. Coming from a large family, I know we were not the easiest and most quiet kids ever, but those people showed us the Gospel and Jesus's love with such dedication and grace. Many of the most powerful mentors for me were people over the age of 70. Seeing how much they worked with me ingrained into me that our work of declaring and showing God's mighty works to all generations is not done until the day our heavenly father calls us home to him. These amazing people were never too busy for me. They always found and made time for me at any time of day. They showed me the importance and power of getting together at regular times to invest in our faith. They kept me accountable always, whether or not I was really into it at that moment.

As life gets faster and busier, the legacy of those generations and the work they poured into kids like me continues to anchor and empower me to continue their work in my life to declare God's mighty works to everyone around me. When I start to come up with excuses why I think I need to step back, those many generations in my story are there picking me back up, holding me up, and helping me to fight the good fight and finish the race well! The only invitation we need is the one that God already has given us in his word! May we be a people of all generations that wake up every day the Lord has given us to declare his mighty works to every generation around us!

  • Who has God put in your life to share your story and invest in theirs?

Actions to Take

  • How will you make time to make a difference in someone’s life this week?

Prayer to Make

Dear Lord, thank you for the people you have placed in my life who have gone before me to provide wisdom and guidance. Thank you for your Word, which shows us the way to help others do the same. I praise you because you are worthy! Amen.
