DAY 3 OF 7

Have you ever felt like you’re sinking — waiting for something solid to stand on?

On Day Three, God brings stability.

“And God said, ‘Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.’ And it was so.” (Genesis 1:9 ESV)

For two days, water has covered everything. But now, by His word alone, God gathers the depths and commands the ground to rise. The land doesn’t fight to emerge — it appears at the voice of its Creator.

What God is doing here is more than geography. He’s laying foundation. And in Scripture, the ground often points to more than soil. It’s about roots, fruitfulness, promise, and stability. Think of the Promised Land. Think of the Parable of the Sower. Think of Jesus as the seed buried and raised.

But the land isn’t just exposed. It’s activated.

“The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed… and trees bearing fruit…” (Genesis 1:12 ESV)

Before God even creates the sun or rain systems, He makes the earth produce. Why? Because His Word is enough. What He calls forth, He also sustains.

Notice the order: God doesn’t tell the ground to bear fruit until after it has been revealed. Some things can’t grow until you let Him uncover what’s been hidden.

You may feel like your life is all water — no footing, no clarity, no control. But Day Three reminds us: the same voice that gathered the chaos can call the ground to rise beneath your feet.

And when He does, He won’t stop at stability. He’ll move you into fruitfulness.

REFLECT

  • How are you depending on God to be your foundation, whether it’s one that He has already uncovered or if He is revealing a new one?
  • Where might He be calling you to trust Him for growth, not just survival?
  • What would fruitfulness look like in this season?

PRAYER

Lord, You gather what overwhelms and speak to what’s buried. Let the dry ground appear in me. Make firm what has felt shaky. Plant Your Word deep in my heart, and cause it to grow. I don’t just want stability — I want fruit that glorifies You. Amen.
