Abundant Life

DAY 4 OF 12

An Approved Worker

Have you thought about what it means to be ‘an approved worker’? Think about being ‘approved’ to weld or build a house or fix a car. If you were in need of any of those services, you’d look for someone approved – someone who has worked hard and focused intentionally on their chosen field to gain the necessary qualifications to be able to perform that job. An approved worker for God would be someone who has applied this kind of focus and diligence to their walk with God, seeking His approval over people’s.

It’s an absolute joy and privilege for me to think that the work I do is all for God – for His Kingdom and glory. I don’t do it as a duty. I do it simply because I love God, and I love to do things for Him – not because I have to, but simply because I want to. The gospels tell us that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. I want to be a laborer, and not just any laborer. I want to be an approved worker, someone who correctly explains the Word of truth. I want God to be pleased with my work and accept it as part of my worship. For this to happen, I first have to know God’s Word. That means I need to spend time reading and studying the Bible.

I want to encourage you to choose to be someone who meditates on the Word day and night, like the psalmist tells us to do in Psalm 1. Get to know the truth, mindful of the wonderful mystery that Jesus calls Himself the truth and invites us into abundant life. Today, as you work on your physical self, remember that while it’s great to be fit and healthy, that shouldn’t be our ultimate aim. The end goal is to work on our spiritual selves and become approved workers for the Lord. Get to know the Bible so you can correctly explain it to other people, inviting them to say yes to abundant life.

First the Word – now the Workout:

4 rounds for time // 15 cal row

15 thrusters

15 toes to bar
