The Divine Man, the Son of Salvation
The one promised long ago came in an unsuspecting way. The prophets declared about His arrival as time reverberated His first advent. Prophets only say what they hear from the Father, yet they can only see in shadow. And when He came, the Prophetess Anna declared as she saw Him and began to praise God as she spoke about this wondrous Son (Luke 2). She spent seventy-seven years praying and fasting in the Temple and simply caught a glimpse of the Son of promise. What was placed on their lips to prophesy, the finite prophets ruminated about—the Son’s suffering and His great glory that would be revealed after. Their message from antiquity is still feeding us today. What they saw in shadow, we see clearly now. We’ve received Him. This Good News has been announced to magi, shepherds, and now to the whole world; all the while, angels stand with bated breath watching creation receive the Divine Man. Our sin problem has been resolved, our earthly frame now filled with God’s Spirit declaring the most profound message that Jesus Christ, our redeemer, saves. The promised Son has come for all. Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace, goodwill to all men. Amen.
