The Legacy of Motherhood

DAY 3 OF 5

Day 3 – Teaching Wisdom and Character

Story: The mother of King Lemuel (Proverbs 31:1-9)

Mothers are often the first teachers of wisdom and character. The mother of King Lemuel instructs him in Proverbs, guiding him to lead with integrity, justice, and humility. Her words shaped his character and his decisions as a king.

Teaching wisdom is more than imparting knowledge; it involves modeling life according to God’s principles. Mothers guide through example, correction, and intentional instruction. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us that training a child correctly sets the foundation for a lifetime of wise choices. Daily conversations, decisions, and habits leave a lasting imprint.

Mothers teach resilience, responsibility, and faithfulness. They demonstrate how to love God and others, respond to challenges, and live with integrity. This instruction is the bedrock of character and provides a legacy that impacts children, their communities, and future generations.

Reflection Question:

What lessons of wisdom or character have you learned from a mother figure? How are you intentionally passing these lessons on to others?

Invitation to Prayer:

Ask God to show you ways to teach and model wisdom and character in your life and influence. Pray for guidance in leaving a legacy that honors Him.
