Love God Greatly - Secure in Christ: One Faith, One Family, One SaviorSample

Week 1 / Chosen and Redeemed
More Than Enough
Read: Ephesians 1:11-14
SOAP: Ephesians 1:13
"And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation)—when you believed in Christ—you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit" (NET)
Into the Text
Enough. As women, we often vacillate between wondering if we’ve done enough or if we’ve done too much. The same is true within our faith. Many people struggle with the truth that once we have trusted in Christ for salvation, we have done enough. We don’t have to worry about whether or not God will look at us and revoke our salvation.
Paul clearly writes that from the moment a person believes, she is sealed with the Holy Spirit. What does this mean? This means that God Himself gives us His Spirit to declare that we are His.
In ancient times, kings and rulers would wear a signet ring with a seal imprinted into the metal. They wore it so that they could mark any official documents or letters with their seal to show that it is authoritatively from the king.
Rather than simply marking believers as His own, God, instead, gives us the Holy Spirit to indwell believers. In doing so, the Holy Spirit works in the believers’ life to convict, guide, renew, unite, and encourage them daily.
We are not left on our own to wonder if we are enough or if we have done enough. God sent the Holy Spirit to daily remind us that Christ is enough, and His sacrifice on our behalf was more than enough to save us.
Prayer
God, thank you for sending your beloved Son, Jesus, who is enough, who is all I need for life and death, and who has secured my eternal salvation. Amen.
