Staying Grounded in PaPa's Love

Reflection

I’m willing to guess you are like me, and it’s easier to speak the love language of our Heavenly Father when you are in a good mood. It's difficult to stay in a good mood when you step into a trying situation.

I rushed over to Brooks’ bedside and gently hugged her, whispering in her ear, “I love you.” Bilal was sitting in a chair beside Brooks’ bed. I walked over to him and hugged him. However, instead of expressing my love for him too, I matter-of-factly stated, “I’m gonna kill you.” (I do want to share that I would not kill Bilal, I love him. But I was angry with him. I had spent six and a half hours wondering if she was alive or dead! Although I had been talking with PaPa about her, a ton of stress had attacked me, and I did not want to let go. Unfortunately, this was how I chose to express myself in the heat of the moment.)

As I stood at Brooks’ bedside, she continued to have waves of extreme pain. I began praying over her as I massaged her from head to toe. The nurse gave her a low dose of morphine, explaining this was all she had to give her since she was six months pregnant. I felt like I was experiencing a nightmare!

The Holy Spirit sweetly convicted me, and I repented for my sin and apologized to Bilal. He graciously hugged me and accepted my apology.

Are you able to stay in PaPa's love when you feel like you are in the middle of a nightmare?

Activation

The best way to stay grounded is to keep your eyes on Him and to remember His heart towards you. When we receive His tender love in the middle of our nightmare, it helps us extend His tender mercies to the people in our lives.

Hebrews 12:2 “We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!”(TPT)

Ask Holy Spirit if there is anyone you need to forgive or apologize to.
