Legacy: Maximizing Your ImpactSample

Resources Are Meant to Be Released
Everything we have—our money, possessions, skills, and influence—flows from the generous hand of God. We are not owners, but stewards. Not possessors, but participants in His purposes. Our role is not to control or cling, but to be faithful with what we’ve been entrusted.
King David modeled this beautifully. At the end of his life, he gave sacrificially toward the building of the temple—not from duty, but from deep love. He declared, “Everything comes from You, and we have given You only what comes from Your hand” (1 Chronicles 29:14, NIV). That is the heart of a steward—one who gives not to impress, but to bless.
In contrast, Solomon began well but drifted. He moved from steward to owner, and over time, his heart shifted from worship to accumulation. The tragedy? His compromise became a burden passed on to the next generation. His wealth increased, but his legacy fractured.
Jesus reminded us through the Parable of the Talents that God watches how we handle what we’ve been given—whether little or much. What matters most isn’t how much we have, but how faithfully we release it into His hands for kingdom purposes.
You don’t need wealth to be a steward—you just need willingness. God multiplies what’s surrendered. He takes loaves and fishes and feeds thousands. He takes jars of oil and fills a household. When you offer what you have with a heart of trust, heaven moves through earthly hands.
Prayer: Lord, everything I have is Yours. Teach me to live open-handed, with a heart that reflects Your generosity. Help me manage what You’ve given—finances, gifts, opportunities—with faithfulness, humility, and purpose. May my stewardship create impact that stretches into eternity. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection Questions:
- What area of your life are you tempted to manage as an “owner” rather than a steward?
- How might God be inviting you to release or invest something this week for His glory?
