Solitary Refinement

DAY 3 OF 4

The Unsung Song Within You

Scripture:

“Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy”. Psalms 100:1-2 (NLT)

Reflection:

What gifts, dreams, or words has God placed in you that remain unexpressed? Too often, life’s disappointments silence our purpose. Your song, the calling God gave to you, is still within you. It is not too late to sing it. Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. said this : “Many people die with their music still in them... before they know it, time runs out.”

There was a time in my life when I honestly believed–and even said aloud–“If someone put a gun to my head and asked me to describe my dreams, I wouldn’t be able to answer.”

I’ve been blogging, both formally and informally, for over a decade. Over the years, readers often shared how much my words have impacted them in a meaningful manner. While I appreciated their comments, I failed to connect the dots. I didn’t recognize that God was using those moments to reveal the gift He had placed within me—and the calling to be His messenger.

For a long time, I stayed silent to the song He had placed within in me. But recently, I’ve begun to sing it, allowing it to be expressed. It now is a song of joy!

Application:

Reflect on one area of your life where your passion has gone silent. Ask the Lord to awaken that song again. Take a small step today—write, speak, serve, create—whatever your "music" may be.

Prayer:

Lord, reignite the passions You placed within me. Let me not go another day hiding the gift You gave me. I surrender my fear and regret, and I choose to let my life sing.
