WE SHALL NOT DIE - Reading With the People of God #17Sample

The Master You Serve
When you read scripture with an open heart, expecting to encounter The Creator of the universe and hear from His essence through The Living Word of The Messiah via His Holy Spirit, you will encounter God. Jesus still walks with His people. Jesus still teaches and corrects. Jesus is still alive. When you choose to believe what is written within His Word, you will encounter the Living God.
We have freedom to choose. We can believe wholeheartedly, just as we can choose not to believe. Not believing doesn't negate God's presence. God is still there, but our awareness of His proximity is dead. God will allow us to act and behave in ways that further our spiritual deafness whilst also serving Him. The tragedy in this choice is missing out on having a relationship with the one true God and instead aligning our dead hearts with ego, pride, and flesh. All of which only serve up scraps that leave us wanting more, NEEDING more, craving more. Always striving to conquer; never satisfied. Devouring our way straight to destruction.
We each will serve a master in this lifetime. We decide which master. You can serve your own flesh and become filled with greed, lust for power, and control. Craving empty things to fill your soul. Or, you can serve The One who feeds you from His table; the table that provides living water and gives life through the bread of His body.
Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, must be meditated upon every single day if you truly want to be consumed by His presence. There is so much more for us to discern and learn and grow into this side of heaven than we can even imagine. Every choice you make either draws you nearer to God, inviting you into wholeness; or fractures your soul, binding it to people, possessions, and rituals that leave you feeling empty and unsatisfied.
It really comes down to one question. A question you must ask Holy Spirit to reveal within your heart at every single intersection, choice, decision, and step you take…
Which master am I serving right now?

About this Plan

In this 17th installment of Reading with the People of God, we continue following a lectionary rhythm—Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. This plan explores the prophetic voices of Micah, Habakkuk, and Isaiah, who confronted kings and warned of coming judgment while pointing to the hope of the Messiah. Alongside these, we'll read from the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, tracing the life of Christ and the birth of the Church. As we read these powerful passages in parallel, may the Spirit shape us and grow us in Christ together.
