Fall and Redemption

DAY 7 OF 7

FINAL REDEMPTION

Even though our being is already partially redeemed, we still await complete redemption. And it’s not just us — all of God's creation waits with eager expectation for the Day when it will be completely cleansed from sin and all its destructive effects (Romans 8:18-23).

“The whole creation has been groaning” (Romans 8:22). This groaning can be seen in the unrest of nature, in environmental issues such as melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, and the increasingly frequent occurrence of natural disasters—earthquakes, fires, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and more.

As time goes on, nature seems to "scream" louder that something is wrong with the world (see Matthew 24:7; Luke 21:25-26). But at the moment of final redemption, all creation will be set free from its current condition of decay (Romans 8:21).

The Elimination of Sin

Ever since the first humans ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, the entire human race has become depraved and devoid of goodness. Like a generation of zombies infecting one another, no one escaped (Romans 3:9-20, 23).

Only Christ broke this cursed cycle (Romans 3:25; John 1:29). Very soon, sin will be removed from the universe and will no longer be a possibility (Romans 8:21; 1 Corinthians 15:53-57).

The End of Evil and Death

Alongside sin, we face a related and devastating problem: evil. There is no sin without evil. Satan — the originator of evil (Ezekiel 28:13-15) — was the one who led the first human couple into sin. According to the apostle John, “he is that old serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray” (see Revelation 12:9).

His fate is sealed. A terrible but well-deserved punishment awaits him: “And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur...” (Revelation 20:10 NIV).

Thus, Satan will be sentenced and will never again be able to deceive God's creatures. Death—that cursed abomination that haunts us—will be the last enemy to be destroyed (1 Corinthians 15:26; Revelation 20:14).

With the end of evil, it will become clear to the entire universe that it is not worth living outside the eternal laws of the Creator. Such a mistake will never be repeated. Perfect peace and harmony are only possible when life is lived according to the standards of the Author of Life.

A Redeemed Creation

The Lord will transform all of His creation. That broken, oppressed world will no longer exist. A new world will take its place. Redeemed human beings will never again be alone. The communion once lost in Eden will be restored forever. And God Himself will dwell with His people (Revelation 21:2-3).

There will be no more weeping, death, sorrow, pain, or any other kind of suffering. All these things will belong to the past (Revelation 21:4).

A Solemn Invitation

Do you want to live forever? Do you want to be by the Father’s side when this current world system comes to an end?

If your answer is yes, Christ’s invitation applies to you. In Revelation 22:17, Jesus solemnly invites all who are thirsty to come to Him and freely receive the water of life. There is a fountain, my friend! There is pure water available to all who are thirsty—and it’s free (Revelation 21:6).

Final redemption is near. In the end, love will triumph. May this hope keep us alive and at peace.

Until then, let us never tire of proclaiming: “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).
