Journey Through Kings & Chronicles Part 1Sample

Journey Through Kings & Chronicles Part 1

DAY 6 OF 15

Solomon’s Fall: In Front of the Text

Legacies & Finishing Well

This lesson has touched upon two particular legacies: David’s and Solomon’s. In the case of Solomon, it’s a complicated legacy. He did good things; he did bad things. Moreover, both good and bad things projected ripples out into the future.

David’s legacy is important because, as we saw in 1 Kings 11, it counteracted (to a certain extent) the negative implications of Solomon’s legacy.

Naturally, this brings into view our legacies.

1. What are the most likely ways your life and work will be remembered? What kind of consequences might ripple into the future?

2. “Finishing well” is all the more serious in light of numerous biblical figures who didn’t finish well, including both David and Solomon. Jot down examples of people you know who did and who did not finish well.

3. Can you identify what made the difference?

Wrap up

Nicole wraps up this lesson on Solomon’s fall from grace. He started well but didn’t manage to finish well.
