Here Am I: Send Me!Sample

As we saw yesterday, Isaiah had a problem when he saw the Lord. We have the same problem when we encounter the Lord. We are all sinners. We don’t measure up. We’ve missed the mark, flubbed the dub, and done the deed. We have lied, we have been angry unjustly, we have manipulated others, we have been selfish, etc. We know we are not perfect, no matter how hard we try to be good.
For the prophet, that was addressed through a hot coal to the lips. But in the New Testament, that problem is addressed by the life, death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Paul, the author of Romans, lays that out for us in today’s passage.
The law can’t make us righteous. We just can’t keep it all. So, apart from that, we are made righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone who believes in Jesus is declared right with the Father. Paul states that we all have sinned. It is the common state of all humanity. Whether we grew up in church or have no idea what the inside of a church looks like, we all have the same problem. We have fallen short of the glory of God! We’ve missed the mark.
Paul goes on to say that through the payment of the blood of Jesus as our sacrifice, those who believe in Jesus are forgiven and made right with God. Notice that God is the one declaring us as righteous! God presented Jesus as the payment. God is the one who gives us grace. God is the one who passed over previous sins in His restraint. God is the author of the plan to allow us to be forgiven, to encounter Him in His glory, and live!
So, do you believe that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of your life? Have you committed to following Him all the days of your life? Just as the prophet needed to be forgiven before the rest of the story could be written, you need to be forgiven before the rest of your story can be written. Declare your belief in the atoning work of Jesus today. Ask God to save you through faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary.
