When All Seems Lost

DAY 2 OF 5

The miracle is never in what you lost.

2 Kings 4:2 NIV "Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”

No matter what you are going through, you are never in a state of nothingness; there is always something left that God can use to bless you. It is not what we don't have that holds us back in life; it is what we do have that we are not putting to use. The question is, do you know what you have?

We can be so overwhelmed by the turbulence and challenges of life that we lose sight of other things working in our lives. The widow's loss could have blinded her to what's left, but even amid her turbulence, she still recognises her "little oil." Yes, the situation is bad, but I still have some fragments left. The oil is little, but the miracle that follows is not predicated on the volume, but rather its availability. What is your "little oil?"

The situation may not be as bad as it seems, but while you are still going through the pain, and the emotions are quite tense, you may not see a way out. In times like these, ask for the peace of God to fill your heart.

When Moses and the Israelites arrived at the Red Sea, moving forward didn't seem possible and going back would be a death sentence. Moses prayed to God, and God asked him a very important question, "Why are you crying out to me? What is that in your hand?" May I also ask you the same question: "What is that in your hand?" For Moses, it was a staff. For you, it could be a relationship, a friend, a skill, a certificate, a degree, or a contact; whatever it is, you have something God can use as a seed for your breakthrough.

Elisha had a mantle that fell from Elijah. The widow had a little jar of oil, and Moses had a staff. Joseph and Daniel had a gift for interpreting dreams. Do you know what you have? While you are waiting for that big breakthrough, in the interim, use what you have. Look around you and look within you; there is always something left.

Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector, but a man of short stature. He had a goal to see Jesus in the crowd, but it was difficult because of his height. He could have given up, but he looked around him and saw a sycamore tree, and that was his leverage. Look around you, there's also a sycamore tree, use it. It doesn't matter why and how you have the limitations you have; there is always something around you. When all seems lost, find the remnant; it could be the seed for your breakthrough.
