Heart of Worship

DAY 2 OF 3

Worship & Response

If the heart of worship starts with revelation, it is sustained by our response.

The heart of worship consists not only of gaining revelation of God but also of living in response to that revelation. It is one thing to gain a greater understanding of who God is; it is another thing altogether to respond in worship to Him.

Read: Romans 12:1 (NIV)

For the Apostle Paul, worship at its essence and core was not just a wholehearted and inward response to God but a whole-life response. This is done in “view of God’s mercy”. In other words, in light of what God has done and who He is.

Revelation and Response.

This is the dynamic and the call to worship that we have today as well. We respond to who God is and what He has done for us in lives of worship offered to the Lord.

Worship, however, is not meant to be a one-off occurrence. Worship consists of a life that has been given to God. An offering of the whole self poured out before Him.

Give yourself a moment to respond to who God is today.

Prayer (pray this out loud): Lord, I pray my worship would honor You. Whether it be in song, or prayer, or in service to others, may my worship be a pleasing sacrifice to You. Help me to remember that my entire life is for You. You are good, merciful, and true. You are worthy of all my life and praise. To You be the Glory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
