Heaven (Part 1)Sample

Why It Matters
My mom, Denise, recently passed away. I have every confidence that she knew Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. I still remember the day she came home from church when I was 15, excited to tell me she had given her life to Jesus. That moment massively shaped my own decision to follow Him.
In the days following Mom’s passing, I found myself wanting to understand more about Heaven – the place where God promises no more tears, no more pain, and eternal joy.
Years ago, I purchased a book called Heaven by Randy Alcorn, and I knew it was time to revisit it alongside the Bible to find comfort and answers to the many questions rotating around my mind.
In a world filled with uncertainty, the promise of Heaven moves our perspective from the temporal things of this life to the eternal.
Our life on this Earth passes by so quickly, and you often feel and understand that the older you become.
The Bible tells us that life on Earth is ‘a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes’ (James 4:14 NIV). But Heaven is eternal. It is a place of unending love, justice, and peace in the presence of God.
Why does Heaven matter? Because it reassures us that this broken old world is not our final home.
For those who trust in Jesus, Heaven is the ultimate promise, a hope that gives meaning to our lives today, and a future that transforms how we face life’s challenges.
There is no other way you can get there! You have to really consider that Jesus is the only way, and we’ll explore that in detail later in this series.
I’ll also be diving deeper into the hope, beauty, and truth of Heaven. I invite you to join me on this journey as we look at the reality of Heaven and expel some of the myths and misconceptions about it.
Reflect
- How does the promise of Heaven shape your perspective on life?
- Are you living with eternity in mind?
Pray
Lord, thank You for the hope of Heaven – a place of peace, joy, and Your loving presence. Comfort me in loss, remind me of eternity, and strengthen my faith. Help me live each day with Heaven in view, trusting in Your life-changing promise. Amen.
