Our Father...

DAY 8 OF 21

Prayer as Surrender

What part of your life is hardest to let go of in prayer?

Prayer shapes who we are. When Jesus teaches us to pray "your will be done," he invites us into a posture of surrender where our hearts are aligned with God’s purposes, not just our own desires. It’s in this space that prayer becomes transformative, forming us into people who trust, yield, and walk in obedience. We pray these words not because we are resigned to fate, but because we believe God’s will is wise, good, and trustworthy.

Paul writes in Romans 12:2 (NIV), “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind...”Knowing God's will begins with surrendering our own.

We often come to God with our agendas. But the longer we sit with him, the more he changes us. Prayer is where we begin to desire what he desires. When Jesus taught these words, he was calling his disciples into a life of alignment, a life where their dreams, values, and decisions would mirror heaven.

Today, identify one area where you’ve been reluctant to yield. Bring it into the light. Ask God to replace anxiety with trust. Remember: His will is not a threat. It's true peace.

Prayer:
God, I open my hands today. I surrender the things I’ve been holding onto, the places I’ve insisted on my own way. Shape my heart through prayer. Help me trust that your will leads to life and joy.

About this Plan

Our Father...

Over the next 21 days, we’re going on a journey through the words Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6. The Lord’s Prayer is an invitation to be changed from the inside out. As we fast and pray together, each daily devotional will help us draw closer to God, grow in identity, realign with his kingdom, trust him for provision, and walk in wholeness.
