The world has all kinds of ways to measure greatness: wealth, fame, followers, power. But Jesus flipped that completely. He taught and modeled that greatness is found in service.

We know this instinctively, don’t we? We’ve admired bosses who served their teams, and cringed at those who used their power selfishly. Jesus lived what he preached: washing feet, touching the untouchable, sacrificing for us all.

Where in your life could you trade striving for significance for an opportunity to serve? This is the way of Jesus. Let’s embrace it.

Jesus, thank you for redefining greatness. Help me let go of my desire for recognition and instead look for ways to serve others with humility and love. Shape my heart to be more like yours. Amen.
