Workplace Evangelism - 40 Rockets Tips (6-10)Sample

Leave something interesting on your desk
A farmer went out to sow his seed. - Matthew 13:3 (NIV)
One of the challenges for Christians at work is to move from the mundane to the meaningful. Leaving an interesting item on your desk or workstation might just be the catalyst to get people talking about the deeper things of life.
You could strategically place a Christian book, or a Bible verse, or an invitation to an upcoming Christian event, or maybe even an interesting newspaper article. Try to think of something that might provoke conversation without being too weird.
Remember that your aim is to lovingly engage people and not to offend them unnecessarily.
Be ready to speak
Always be ready to talk about your interesting item in a way that honours Jesus. People may ask you about it when you least expect it.
In my first office job I wore a fish symbol on the lapel of my suit jacket. Time passed and I completely forgot it was there. One day the general manager of our division jumped in the elevator with me and asked, “What does the fish mean?” I wasn’t expecting the question, and mumbled something incoherent. The opportunity was lost. So always be ready.
Keep it fresh
Another tip is to change your item regularly, lest it become part of the scenery of your workstation and no longer stand out. Keep your ‘bait’ fresh and interesting.
Action: Write on your ‘To Do’ list: “Find something interesting to place on my desk”.
Pray: Ask God to help you find a good conversation starter that’s not too weird, and pray that you’d be ready to speak about it when the time comes.
