Are We Loving Well?Sample

Devotional 11: Love Bears All Things
“…love bears all things…” — 1 Corinthians 13:7 (ESV)
Reflection
To bear all things means to carry burdens, endure hardship, and face trials without giving up or turning away. Love doesn’t run from difficulty; it confronts it head-on with grace, knowing that true love is tested and refined through challenges.
This kind of love is resilient, refusing to break under pressure. It chooses to bear the weight of another person’s struggles, to stand firm through seasons of pain, and to remain faithful even when the circumstances are heavy. Love bears not because it’s easy, but because it’s deeply committed to others’ well-being.
Scripture References
- Galatians 6:2 (ESV) – “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
- Romans 15:1 (ESV) – “We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.”
- 2 Corinthians 1:4 (ESV) – “Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Practical Application
- Look for opportunities to support someone who is going through a difficult time. Sometimes bearing with them means listening, praying, or just being present.
- Reflect on a time when someone bore with you in your struggles—how did that love impact you? Let that inspire how you love others in tough seasons.
- Recognize your own capacity to endure with others. Ask God for strength to love through the hard times, both in your life and in those around you.
Prayer
Lord, You are our ultimate strength when we feel weak. Help me to bear all things with the patience and love that You model for us. Give me the grace to endure hardships, not with bitterness, but with a heart of compassion and selflessness. Teach me to love deeply and carry the burdens of others with a gentle spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Call to Action
This week, reach out to someone who is struggling and offer to walk alongside them in their difficulty. Ask how you can bear a part of their burden, even if it’s just through a kind word or prayer.
About this Plan

God is love, and we love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Still, life’s hardships and our human flaws often make it hard to love others as God loves us. The aim isn’t perfection but transformation—becoming more like Christ in how we love. As you reflect, ask yourself: Are we loving well? This isn’t about comparing ourselves to others, but about honestly assessing our hearts, identifying where growth is needed, and realigning our love with God’s, so that His love can flow through us more freely.
