Stop Hustling, Start Earning: What Your Rest Reveals About Your Relationship With God's Provision

DAY 1 OF 3

What if I told you that your relationship with rest reveals everything about your relationship with God's provision?

Pretty bold statement, I know.

But most of us have bought into a lie that sounds spiritual but is actually rooted in fear: "If I don't work, God won't provide."

We've confused faithfulness with franticness, and diligence with desperation.

But here's what I've discovered: when I can't rest (because I am too busy), my heart reveals that I don't really trust God to take care of me.

Think about it. When you feel guilty for taking a day off, what are you really saying?

That God's provision depends on your productivity. That His faithfulness is conditional on your performance. That you're somehow more committed to your family's welfare than He is.

But Jesus's invitation to rest isn't just about being less tired—it's about learning to trust a God who works even when you don't.

It's about discovering that your worth isn't tied to your output, and your provision isn't dependent on your productivity.

If you recall, the Israelites had to learn this the hard way.

God literally provided double manna before the Sabbath so they could rest without anxiety. He was teaching them that His provision transcends their efforts.

When you resist rest, you're not being more faithful—you're revealing a lack of faith in God's character as your provider.

Today, I challenge you to examine your relationship with rest. What fears surface when you consider truly unplugging? What does your hesitation to rest reveal about how you really view God's provision?

Remember - the God who feeds the birds and clothes the flowers is more than capable of caring for you, even when you're not working. In fact, He delights in showing His provision most clearly when we step back and let Him work.
