Simple Prayer: How to Pray Like JesusSample

You are Holy
The Power of God’s Name
Read: Psalm 20
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God." (Psalm 20:7 NIV)
Devotional Thought:
In the Bible, a person’s name often represents who they are—their character and reputation. In the same way, the name of the Lord represents God's power, authority, and faithfulness. In Psalm 20, David reminds us that true security is not found in human strength, wealth, or resources, but in God alone. To hallow God's name is to trust in his power above all else. When we face uncertainty, we can call upon his name, knowing he is faithful. His name is not just a title—it carries the weight of his character, his promises, and his might.
Prayer Practice: Lectio Divina
Practice Lectio with Psalm 20:7.
– Read it slowly.
– Let the words settle into your heart.
– Ask God: Where am I tempted to trust in other things?
– Respond with a prayer of surrender and trust.
Reflection Activity:
Write down one situation where you need to trust in God’s name. Pray over it, declaring: “I trust in the name of the Lord my God.”
Prayer:
Father, I put my trust in your name, not in my own strength. You are my provider, my refuge, my defender. Teach me to rely on you completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
