Finding Jesus in the Storm: A Devotional for Those Living With Psychosis and SchizophreniaSample

A Prayer for Those Who Cannot Pray
God of the lost and the breaking,
God of the unheard and unseen,
I do not have words today.
I do not have clarity.
I do not have strength.
Be the strength I do not have.
Be the voice I cannot find.
Be the hope I cannot hold.
Gather up all my scattered thoughts.
Gather up all my fear.
Gather up all that feels fragile,
and hold it in your hands.
Let the prayers of others carry me.
Let their faith shelter me.
Let their love surround me.
And if I can do no more today
than be here —
then let it be enough
to be here with you.
You are God —
not because I can feel you,
not because I can understand you,
but because you will not let me go.
Stay close.
Stay near.
Stay with me
until I can pray again.

About this Plan

This seven-day devotional, written by Sanctuary Ambassador John Swinton, is intended to support those of us living through psychosis, schizophrenia, and other altered states of mind. It offers gentle reflections and prayers rooted in Scripture and the lived experience of people who seek Jesus in places of deep confusion and fragmentation. These reflections are intended as invitations towards faith, hope, and the possibility of healing, even when cure seems distant.
