From Choke Point to Calling: Finding Freedom With JesusSample

From Choke Point to Calling: Finding Freedom With Jesus

DAY 3 OF 4

Three times Jesus asks Peter, “Do you love me?”—and three times Peter responds, “Yes, Lord.” This wasn’t to shame Peter, but to restore him. For every denial, Jesus offers an opportunity to reaffirm love. He wasn’t just forgiving Peter; He was recommissioning him: “Feed my sheep.” Sometimes, my past mistakes try to define me. Guilt tells me I’ve done wrong, but shame goes deeper—it says I am wrong, unworthy, disqualified. But Jesus lovingly confronts the shame by speaking truth and purpose over me. He doesn’t discard me when I fail—He restores me and invites me back into His mission.

  1. Is there a past failure or sin that still makes me feel unworthy or disqualified?
  2. How does Jesus’ restoration of Peter reshape the way I view my own identity and calling?

About this Plan

From Choke Point to Calling: Finding Freedom With Jesus

A 4-Day Journey Through John 21 This devotional plan invites me to walk with Peter through one of the most pivotal moments in his life—a moment where Jesus met him in his failure and frustration, not to condemn him, but to restore and recommission him. As we reflect on these four choke points, we can be reminded that Jesus longs to bring freedom in these same areas of our life too. This devotional plan is inspired by a powerful teaching originally shared by Dave Smith, Senior Leader of KingsGate Community Church, UK
