Unboxed: God's MasterpieceSample

Have you ever wondered how a bad situation could ever turn out for good? If anyone had reason to wonder, it was Joseph. Bad things kept happening to him over and over: His brothers sold him as a slave because they hated him, and he was put in prison for something he didn’t do. Then he was left in prison because everyone forgot about him!
Our passage today comes after Joseph was finally released. Joseph had been promoted to a high governmental position in Egypt. With his new power, he could have been cruel to his brothers, but he wasn’t. Instead, he forgave them. Why? Joseph understood that all along, God had a bigger plan than he could imagine. Joseph had submitted himself so completely to God that he started to see how God was using all the events of his life, even the bad ones, for good. So, when you are struggling with insecurity or anxiety, trust God. He has bigger plans for you than you can imagine.
Reflection Questions:
- Think of a time where something seemed bad at first, but then it ended up being a good thing. How might that speak to struggles you are facing right now?
- Can you recall any other Scripture you have read in the last four weeks that helped you to see God at work behind the scenes? What do these passages tell you about God's character and plans?

About this Plan

This is part 4 of 4 in the Feed Middle School series Unboxed: Created in God's Image. This plan unpacks Lesson 4: God's Masterpiece. God identifies us as his children. He designed us as his “masterpiece,” and through Christ, we are set free to do the good things he planned for us long before sin entered the world. We don’t need to cling to our own ideas of who we should be or what we must do. Being in Christ is enough.
