The Furnace of Leadership

DAY 5 OF 11

When You’re Gifted… but Still Forgotten

Joseph could have shut down. He could have looked away, guarded his heart, and numbed his compassion. After all, hadn’t caring cost him enough already?

But he leaned into the ache of two strangers in a prison who carried dreams too heavy for them to understand. And once again, Joseph served with his gift—even while he was still in chains.

Sometimes, that’s the hardest part of leadership: pouring out while you’re still empty. Ministering while you’re still waiting. Showing up with wisdom, discernment, and care—while your own prayers feel unanswered.

Joseph interpreted dreams with the very gift that got him thrown into the pit. And after giving life-changing words and asking for one small favour in return—he was forgotten.

Have you ever felt that sting? You gave your best. You spoke truth. You led well. And still, no credit. No breakthrough. No “thank you.” Just more waiting. It hurts.

But your gift is still holy. Even when it’s unnoticed. Even when it feels wasted. Even when it blesses others and leaves you with nothing in return. God saw. God remembered. And at the right time, He would open the door no man could shut.

Dear leader, my encouragement to you today is this: Stay faithful in using your gifts even when you feel they are unseen. Your Heavenly Father, who is also unseen, doesn’t miss a thing!

Reflection/Discussion Questions:

  • Where have you been serving others from a place of personal waiting or disappointment?
  • Are there moments when you've felt forgotten despite your faithfulness?
  • How can you steward your gift with integrity, even when it feels like no one sees?

About this Plan

The Furnace of Leadership

Welcome to The Furnace of Leadership—a journey through the life of Joseph, whose path to purpose was paved with rejection, betrayal, delays, and detours. He didn’t rise through ease but through pits and prisons—and God was in every moment. If you’ve ever wondered why leadership costs so much, Joseph’s story is for you. Through his life, we’ll see how God shapes leaders not in spite of pain but through it. In the heat of hardship, He forges strength, character, and deep trust. And in His hands, not even your ache is wasted. Let’s walk this refining journey together.
