Behold the Lamb of God

DAY 5 OF 6

Day 5

Like we have mentioned before, lambs are very curious animals. During their expedition to explore their surroundings, they met with a few other animals along the way. Especially lambs of the same herd. This led to lambs becoming very sociable animals. Lambs are rarely alone, unless they wander away from the herd (see Matthew 18:10-14). When we look at the life of Jesus, we see that He also enjoyed spending the majority of His time with other people. We see Him with His disciples, massive crowds, strangers, sinners, religious leaders, and at other times He enjoyed spending time with God Himself.

One of the first names we receive for Jesus in the New Testament is Emmanuel. Meaning God with us. So Jesus even enjoyed spending time with us to such an extent that He was even given a name that described His priority in fellowship.

While lambs mingle with other animals, it is perfectly natural to hear a lamb crying every now and then. The good thing was that the shepherd of the flock always knew how far his sheep were, but the dangerous part was that the lambs' cry also drew the attention of nearby predators. And how true is that not of Jesus? When Jesus was spending time with other people, He always drew the attention of the religious leaders (Mark 2:5-7) and even the enemy himself (Matthew 4:3). At times His words even caught the attention of the rulers in the nation (Mark 15:1-5). But then, other times, the words Jesus spoke and His actions drew the attention of His Father and all of heaven. (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5).

You see, dear reader, it is an inevitable part of our walk with the Lord. When we start to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and start to advance the Kingdom of light, our words and actions will draw the enemy’s attention. The enemy might even send some troubles on our path to make it more difficult to continue the Lord’s work, even God Himself might test us at times to see if we will persist in His work and resist the devil. This is where we have a choice, we can either choose character or compromise. Character will glorify God, and compromise will only glorify yourself. If we desire to follow the footsteps of the Lord all the days of our lives, then we ought to be prepared to draw the attention of the enemy. But be comforted and know that when the enemy hears your words and sees your works, our Father in heaven is also observing and He is always near to place our feet upon solid ground. The Father is pleased with us when we are obedient to the call of Christ. He is pleased with us when we choose to follow Him. Amen.

About this Plan

Behold the Lamb of God

Throughout Scripture and especially the New Testament, we find a lot of analogies being used to describe the character and the role of Jesus Christ towards us, as humanity. In this plan, we will look at the similarities between Jesus and a lamb and how and why we need to connect to Him as the Lamb of God. Another plan to read together with this one: "Behold the Lion of God"
