Transformed: Our New Identity in ChristSample

Behold, The New Has Come
The gospel sets us free from bondage to the sin and shame of the past. But Jesus’ transformative power in our lives is about more than leaving behind the past. It’s also about stepping into new life. In other words, it’s not just about what we’ve been freed from but what we’ve been made for. The old has passed away and the new has come.
Being a new creation means living a Spirit-empowered life that reflects the image of God in righteousness and holiness.
- Righteousness is aligning ourselves with God’s will and doing what’s right in His eyes.
- Holiness is being set apart for God’s purposes, living in purity and devotion to Him.
Thankfully, this spiritual renewal – becoming righteous and holy – is ongoing. It’s not a one-time event but a daily process of growing to be more like Jesus. It’s also not something we can ever achieve in our own strength: we need to rely completely on the empowering Holy Spirit to work in and through us. Paul encourages us with the truth that the same Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, and this empowering, enabling Holy Spirit allows us to live a new life. Walking by the Spirit means surrendering to His daily leading and allowing Him to guide our thoughts, decisions, and actions.
This new life in Christ isn’t just about internal transformation but also external impact. You’re empowered to be a beacon of hope for others. God has acts of love, service, and obedience prepared for you. Step into these opportunities with confidence, knowing you’ve been equipped for them. As you reflect God’s image and walk by His Spirit, you become a testimony of His grace to those around you. Your light will shine before others; they’ll see your good works and glorify your Heavenly Father.
