Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
Read Colossians 3:1–4 again.
- What stands out to you?
- What does it teach us about new life in Jesus?
- What question do you have?
A: Application
When we give up our old way of thinking about and doing things, Jesus gives us new life. What's something new God is teaching you right now?
What's something temporary you spend time worrying about or putting energy into that you want to stop?
Nobody can take away the newness of life Jesus gives. How can that give you confidence in your faith journey today?
P: Prayer
Spend some time in prayer asking God to show you ways you might fixate on unhelpful thoughts instead of the new life Jesus gives. Ask for help trusting God for your security and fulfillment. Then say thank you for all the ways you're embraced as part of God's family.

About this Plan

The Easter story is something we celebrate every year, but when was the last time you really thought about what it means for you today? Before Easter morning, there was darkness, grief, and emptiness as Jesus’ followers watched him die. But then, Jesus came back to life, and everything changed for good! For the next 14 days, we’ll discover the resurrection didn't end on Easter Sunday—Jesus is still bringing us more life every day. We'll see that Jesus' death, life, and resurrection weren't the end of the story—it was just the beginning.
