After YouSample

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
Read Luke 6:37-38 again.
- What stands out to you?
- What does it teach us about how we can care for one another?
- What does it describe as the benefit of being nonjudgmental?
A: Application
What's something you tend to judge in others?
How have you noticed a judgmental attitude kept you from caring for the needs of others in the past?
What does this passage invite you to do differently in how you approach caring about those around you?
P: Prayer
Spend some time in prayer about people or issues you find yourself to be judgmental of. Ask God to show you why that thing gets under your skin, and talk about what it would look like to let it go for the sake of yourself and the person or group you're judging. Then, say thank you for all the ways God has forgiven and cared for you.

About this Plan

We all know God wants us to love others—it’s one of the most important things Jesus taught. But let’s be honest… actually doing it? That’s not always easy, especially when life feels busy or like people aren’t easy to love. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we’ll explore how Jesus shows us what loving others really looks like. We'll learn that he challenges us to move away from the world’s “me first” attitude and embrace his “after you” message as we follow his example.
