After YouSample

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
Read John 15:9-12 again.
- What does it describe as the source of joy?
- What does it teach us about sharing joy with others?
- What does it place as the most important thing?
A: Application
If we want to share joy, we need to make sure we have it ourselves. What does the passage describe as how we remain connected to Jesus and the joy he gives?
What does this passage invite us to do as a way of sharing joy?
What's a word or phrase from the passage you can use to remind yourself of Jesus' invitation to share joy this week?
P: Prayer
Spend some time in prayer praising God for Jesus' love and the joy it gives. Say you're sorry if there's something keeping you from showing love, and pray for the courage to make it right. Then ask God to show you someone who needs to have joy shared with them.

About this Plan

We all know God wants us to love others—it’s one of the most important things Jesus taught. But let’s be honest… actually doing it? That’s not always easy, especially when life feels busy or like people aren’t easy to love. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we’ll explore how Jesus shows us what loving others really looks like. We'll learn that he challenges us to move away from the world’s “me first” attitude and embrace his “after you” message as we follow his example.
