Stick TogetherSample

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
- If the idea of being close like brothers (or siblings) doesn't make sense to you, what's another kind of relationship you'd use to describe consistency and commitment?
- What does this verse teach us about friendship?
- What warning do you see in it?
A: Application
When was a time you noticed a friendship fall apart because you or the other person wasn't reliable?
How would you describe a friendship where two people are fully committed to being there for one another?
What would it look like to invite Jesus to be that type of friend to you?
P: Prayer
Spend some time talking to God about ways you've felt let down in the past, and how you can look for comfort in God's constant presence in the future. Ask for help seeing ways you can be a friend that's loyal to others. Then say thank you for the tangible reminders you have that you'll always have a friend in Jesus.

About this Plan

Think about your favorite adventure stories where friends go on epic journeys, face challenges, and stick together through it all. Those stories make you wonder: Do I have friends like that? Am I that kind of friend? We all want solid friendships with people who stick with us no matter what life brings, and the Bible gives us wisdom about how to build those relationships. For the next 28 days, we’ll explore what God has to say about how we can have—and be—good friends. We'll see how choosing wise friends will help us navigate any adventure we face.
