“For such a time as this.” What an incredibly powerful statement. For Esther, it was a statement meant to encourage her to embrace the unexpected opportunity she was given to save her people from a plot meant to annihilate them. But this opportunity came with incredible challenges. To speak up and speak out meant walking directly into a storm of her own. In trying to save her people, there was a good chance Esther could lose her own life. In the end, Esther chose to intervene for her people, ignoring the easier path in favor of doing whatever she could to save others.

Of course, not all of us will be given the opportunity to save the lives of our friends and family. But every day, we are given the choice to embrace the unexpected opportunities God has for us all. They may not be easy and may not be exactly what we want them to be, but the storms we face in life could be a tool that God uses to show His power and glory to the world. Think about some of the storms you may be facing today. Can you find opportunities to use these difficult situations in some unexpected ways? That doesn’t mean asking God to give you more challenges to face. But, is there something happening in your life where you can respond with “For such a time as this”?
