Live Different: The Values That Set Us ApartSample

Different Through Integrity
The Cambridge English Dictionary defines integrity as “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles that you refuse to change.”
As followers of Jesus, integrity means living like Jesus. Jesus never wavered from the mission God set before him. He never sinned. He certainly didn’t lie. And when faced with the reality of ridicule, abuse, and an excruciating death on the cross, he said, “not my will but yours” as he prayed to his Father. Jesus remained resolved and unwavering. He embodied integrity in everything he did.
While we are imperfect humans with plenty of flaws in our nature, and we live in a world that seems to encourage us to live by an ever-changing moral compass, we can still live with integrity. We have the perfect teacher.
When we face the choice to do right versus what we know is wrong in the eyes of God, we can ask the proverbial question, “What would Jesus do?” We have God’s Word, Jesus’ teachings, and as Christ-followers, the Holy Spirit to guide us toward the right path. And we have God’s mercy and forgiveness always when we get it wrong (because we will from time to time!) and genuinely seek the way back.
