How to Be a DiscipleSample

Do you know where the word “Christian” comes from?
It comes from the Greek word christianos, meaning “little Christ." When it was first used, it was meant as an insult. People would mock the disciples, saying, “Look! There are those little Christs.”
But what was meant as a jab became a profound truth because, yes, as Christians, we want to be exactly like Christ–what a beautiful historical irony!
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. – 1 John 2:6
The term was first used in Antioch:
…for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. – Acts 11:26
The lifestyle of the early believers was so clearly and unmistakably a representation of Christ that this name was assigned to them. They put into practice what they had learned from Him and fulfilled His mission, just as we are called to do:
The commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness… God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. – Colossians 1:25,27
When Christ is in us, we radiate the hope of glory to those around us. Isn’t that amazing?
The more we know Him, the more we become like Him.
I pray today that you choose to draw closer to Jesus, knowing Him better each day, so that you may resemble Him and radiate the hope of glory around you!
Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
