King Solomon, the Wisest Man That Ever LivedSample

Solomon was to obey God
Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in His ways and keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn. (1 Kings 2:2-3)
When David knew he was about to die, he gave his son Solomon some last instructions. His most important advice was for Solomon to obey the Lord God, only then would he be successful as a king.
Before the people of Israel had their first king, when they were still on their way to their land, they were led by Moses. People came to him to inquire of God when they had a dispute. Moses described his task as follows: “I make them know the statutes of God and His laws.” (Exodus 18:15-16) Of course, there’s more to leading a whole country, but this was the essence of good leadership. It was not about Moses’ own vision and ambitions, but about God’s will for the people. And this didn’t change when Solomon ascended the throne.
I think David’s advice was good and important. Unfortunately, most present day politicians don’t follow that advice. They do not believe in God, or do not consider His laws relevant for their political decisions. What do you think?
David’s advice is not only applicable to politics, however. Walking in God’s ways is the calling of each of us, whatever our role in society.
“Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!” (Psalm 119:1)
Do you keep God’s commandments?
