Systematic TheologySample

Truth. It’s the battleground of our time. The culture says, your truth, my truth, their truth—but then Jesus steps in and flips the whole thing on its head: “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Not a truth—the truth. Bold move.
And here’s the kicker—truth isn’t just an idea or a concept. It’s a person. Jesus didn’t show up to give a TED Talk on ethics; He came as the incarnate, unshakable, living embodiment of reality. The One who was before the beginning (John 1:1). The Logos. The cosmic glue holding everything together. Your science teacher might say molecules do that, but who do you think holds them together?
And yet, we live in a world obsessed with “finding yourself.” Sounds nice, but let’s be real—the “real you” isn’t found in a mirror while whispering self-affirmations. It’s found in Christ. Romans 8:29 says we’re being transformed into His image. So, spoiler alert: you’re not the sculptor of your soul—Jesus is. Self-discovery is overrated; Christ-discovery is the real game-changer.
Which brings us to Scripture. The Bible isn’t some ancient self-help manual—it’s alive (Hebrews 4:12). You don’t just read it; it reads you. It cuts through the noise, exposing what actually needs to change. But don’t worry—it’s precision work. The Holy Spirit is a surgeon, not a butcher. If you want warm fuzzies, grab Chicken Soup for the Soul. If you want truth, open your Bible.
And let’s talk about this “feelings = facts” mentality. It’s easy to believe truth is whatever we vibe with, but that’s just wishful thinking. You can feel like trees don’t exist, but if you hit one going 40 mph, reality wins. Truth isn’t personal—it’s external. It stands whether we acknowledge it or not.
Now, here’s something people don’t always realize: you’re already a theologian. Yep. The question isn’t if you’re one—it’s whether you’re a good one (2 Timothy 2:15). Handling truth isn’t about gut feelings or lucky guesses; it’s about getting it right. And that takes discernment. Here’s a solid filter:
- Bible – What does God actually say?
- Theology – How does this fit the big picture?
- Philosophy – Does this even make sense?
- Church Tradition – What have Christians believed historically?
- Community – Is this resonating with other Jesus-followers?
At the end of the day, God’s truth isn’t a debate topic—it’s the foundation of reality. In a world full of shifting opinions, anchor yourself to Christ. He’s not just truth to know—He’s truth to live by.
